“Air quality and impact of climate change"
Speaker: Philippe Royer, Directeur du Service de l'air de l'Etat de Genève
Philippe Royer is a Directeur du Service de l'air de l'Etat de Genève. He was born in Geneva. After completing his studies at Lycée international de Ferney-Voltaire he moved to Lausanne, where he pursued a degree in physics at EPFL. After he came back to Geneva, he joined CERN, where he did his PhD in Physics (with University of Lausanne) on particle accelerators. He started his career in the private sector, working 7 years for an American global company Praxair which is active in industrial gases and processes. He was first in charge of R&D for Europe in the printing business, based in Geneva, and then Plant Manager for 4 years at a production site in Geneva.
Moved by curiosity and environmental concern, he changed his career path and moved to a public sector about 10 years ago, where he joined the Office cantonal de l'environnement.
Currently, Philippe is in charge of legal aspects regarding air quality, noise, radiations and hazardous substances in the canton of Geneva. He is also a member of the Rotary Club Genève, which he joined in 2019.
